INSPIRING OSTOMATE FEATURE
Read his story ⬇️
I've had my ostomy for about 3 years now. It has been a wild ride with 23 surgeries and over 100 days in the hospital in the last 4 years. I have an ileostomy and it has saved my life and given me a life back! 🥰
What gets me through the tough days are my family and specifically, my wife, Stacie. 👩❤️👨 She has never left my side once during the hospital stays. She is the strongest and most loving person I know. She motivates me to be tough and stay positive because I want to enjoy every day we get to spend together.
My biggest struggle I deal with is body image. It is still hard to accept this is my new reality when I was used to playing every sport imaginable and just being free. However, it is crucial for me to remember that I am now able to go to a sporting event, take a walk, go to work etc.. without the constant panic of will I make it to a bathroom if the urge hits me. I would love other ostomates to just know, every day gets better
Thank you so much @stouq.ostomylife for letting me share my story and being a platform for ostomates to give inspirations to others! 🤩
